Creative Universe online course
It's a collaboration with a very talented photographers I'm so grateful to work with. It's online. It's free!
I start Fotogarten, my photography education platform, thinking about what's important for photographers in Thailand right now. After portfolio review and discuss work with many young photographers, what's lack is thing that suppose to be foundation of creative career; understand one own artistic vision and how to make a portfolio. So this is 2 part course which can apply separately. Starting with this course called Creative Universe, the course on discovering one own artistic vision.
We do the course by email subscription so it can access anywhere anytime. This is the course outline.
Creative Universe is introduced to me by Pearpit-Pitchaya Koowattanataworn, an artist and designer who got the concept from her study at Institut Francais de la mode, Paris. It's the process to collect thing that stuck in our mind then lay it down, categorizing it, making sense of it, then write on it as our manifesto. So it is a process that help not only photographers, but everyone, to understand their own creative self.
Pin And I done it already and found it very helpful so we invited Pearpit to become our main guest in the course. see her video here (it's in Thai)  https://youtu.be/FqW9J7QCFv0
We have a Zoom conversation session where the students join in to show their 'Creative Universe' and share what they see in them self. We also reflect on each other. It's very fun.
Then Pin and I think of the way artist and photographer do a mood board and turn it into works. So I, Pin and Poupay (who give us a hand on connecting people in NYC) talk and the list narrows down to be Maya Akashika, Landon Nordeman, and Elizabeth Renstrom.
We reach to them and they all say yes. I always feel thankful for their support and their kindness to us.

We interview each photographer for 1 hour but we have to cut it down because we want to get in point and also doing a subtitle is kinda big workload. Actually, That 1 hour is so good I cry every time after the interview. Talking with them made me realize how much people can love what they do. It helps me understand more about where I want to work, the place out there where people pour their heart and life out to their works.

Maya Akashika

Landon Nordeman

Elizabeth Renstrom

This is what Landon Nordeman said that doesn't included in the video but I will add it here because I love it too much.
What qualifications do we need if we want to work as a photographer in NYC?
oh boy, well I think to be a photographer anywhere you have to be optimistic because getting paid to take pictures..., you know, if you are looking for a way to make money I don't suggest anyone to be a freelance photographer. you have to love it. it's hard and it's a lot of rejection and a lot of frustration. it's a lot of ups and downs. but I just love it too much. I don't have anything I want to do so I take all the rejection and whatever it brings as part of it. I don't know if it's good advice but I also remind myself; don't give up.
So do you have any advice on shooting events?
I used to hear from two photo teachers. It's the idea that when you are taking pictures. this is it. this is your only chance. you just can't come back. so you know, go for it. if you are doing someone's portrait, it's not like you gonna say oh gosh I will come back another time. it's like you better do it now because that's it.
In those moments, you kinda have to remind yourself that you need to push as much as you can. there're plenty of times I just keep going, like can we try this or that. eventually it will be over but why not try. why not try.
